Harlequins wing Ugo Monye was called up Friday in place of injured Gloucester flyer James Simpson-Daniel into England's squad for their November Tests at Twickenham.
Simpson-Daniel, a leading contender for a wing berth in England's matches against Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the Pacific Islanders, was ruled out Thursday for 12 weeks with ankle ligament damage.
He suffered the injury during his club's European Cup defeat against Cardiff on Sunday. The injury was the latest setback to afflict the career of Simpson-Daniel, who has managed to make just ten England appearances over the course of a six-year international career.
Two further players Nick Easter (Harlequins) and Delon Armitage (London Irish) will join the squad when it meets on Sunday at its Bagshot hotel base south-west of London.
Easter and Armitage have been added to the England squad as a precaution in the event that Luke Narraway (Gloucester) and Mathew Tait (Sale) don't recover in time from hamstring injuries in order to prepare for the Pacific Islanders Test on November 8.
Tait and Narraway will remain with and be treated by their club medics next week while Easter and Armitage train with England. The England medical team will be in regular contact with the club medics during this period before making a decision on the duo's fitness.
"Ugo Monye, Nick Easter and Delon Armitage have all been playing well for their clubs this season and I was able to fast track Delon by bringing him into the Saxons last night and into the England senior squad this (Friday) morning," explained England coach Martin Johnson.
Replacements for the Saxons or reserve squad are being considered and an announcement on those players is expected next week, an RFU statement said.
