In a statement, Brive said Goode "has been released from his contract to become the first English player to move into the top flight of the Super 14".

Brive club president Simon Gillham said that players "only gets this kind of opportunity once in a lifetime. After discussions with the coaching staff, I decided to release him".

Former Leicester Tigers star Goode thanked Brive for "this wonderful experience" which began when he joined the French side in the summer of 2008.
